David Warner, the actor who played the role of Jack Dawson in the 1997 blockbuster movie Titanic, has died aged 80.
Warner, who also starred in The Omen and The Machinist, passed away in Los Angeles on Friday (10 July).
The cause of death is yet to be confirmed, but his family said in a statement that he had been struggling with health issues for some time.
Warner was known for his roles in classic films such as Chariots of Fire and The Lost Boys. He is survived by his wife Joanne Whalley and their two children.
"David passed away peacefully in LA on July 10, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with health issues," his family said in a statement.
"He was surrounded by loved ones who celebrate his life and mourn his passing.
We would like to thank the many people who have sent their thoughts and prayers during these past few months."
Warner was born in Illinois on 13 April 1938. After serving in the US Navy, he started his acting career appearing in TV-movies before landing a role as Jack Dawson in Titanic.
